Strings & Things: Puppetry Adventure Camp
Does your camper love bringing objects to life? In this imaginative, hands-on puppetry camp, students will discover the magic behind one of theatre’s most timeless art forms. From crafting characters to mastering movement, campers will explore how puppets can tell powerful stories on stage.
Throughout the week, campers will:
- Learn the basics of puppet animation and breath work, bringing personality and realism to their creations
- Expand their understanding of different types of puppetry and their history in theatre
- Develop strong teamwork skills through collaborative games and performance exercises
- Design and build their own original puppets
Students will participate in puppet crafting, team-building activities, and guided practice using both instructor-created puppets and the ones they design themselves. Along the way, they will gain a deeper appreciation for why puppetry continues to captivate audiences in theatre today.
At the end of the week, campers will present their own puppet variety show for family and friends, proudly showcasing their creativity, collaboration, and newly developed performance skills.
